As the Reicks family has grown up, so has the RVF family.  RVF is made up of many small family farmers, who together want to produce the best pork that you can buy.  These individual family farmers have been dedicated to raise and sell their pigs for RVF. 

Animal Health

RVF requires employees to participate in PQA Plus, and has their own PQA educator that works directly with the farmers on a daily basis. Under the Pork Quality Assurance Program our producers are educated and trained on pork safety and pig well-being.   Our animals and facilities are inspected by a veterinarian on a 28 day cycle.  The veterinarian testifies that our animals are kept in a healthy and clean environment.  RVF has provided appropriate conditions for the animals’ environment so the animal is able to maintain good health and physical condition. Our family farmers must be able to provide adequate space for the pigs to stay healthy and to prevent injury.  RVF has an auditing system from an outside source.  We follow our animals from beginning to market to ensure their best care.   For trace-back purposes, all our pigs are identified by lot.  There is a record of breeding stock source, location of birth, nursery, growing and finishing so RVF will know the history of our hogs. We follow our animals care every step of the way.

Antibiotic Responsible:  Diseases are controlled by the use of bio-security and by keeping a clean environment by the use of an underground pit.  Antibiotics are only used when necessary to maintain the health of the animal.  Antibiotics are only issued with the recommendation from a licensed veterinarian.

Animal Welfare

When it is time for our animals to be transported to market they are treated with care when going from one location to another.  RVF animal transporters are certified Transport Quality Assurance.  The transporters must make sure the animals are not injured in the event of transportation and loading.  This also ensures the superb quality of RVF pork products. 

Nutrition

RVF feeds their animals only the highest quality of feed.  Efficient feed processes are used to provide high health for their animals. Records are kept on file for verification.  This helps to maintain the animals’ health and the quality of meat that our consumers have learned to love. Our specially fed, genetically superior pork has no added hormones for artificial growth.
